The Ministry of Public Works Plans to Complete Construction and Expansion of National Road No. 4 in 2026

PHNOM PENH: The Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) has opened the construction site and widened National Road No. 4 to withstand climate change and increase the safety of people's travel. The road is scheduled to be completed in December 2026.

According to the announcement of the MPWT on 9 February 2022, the construction and expansion of National Road No. 4 began on December 2021 and will last until December 2026, according to the concession from the World Bank,

The Ministry has started to widen and repair National Road No. 4 from Bek Chan commune, Ang Snoul district, Kandal province, to in Bit Trang commune, Prey Nob district, Sihanoukville province. This project will include the widening of the road, widening of the concrete bridge, adding drains at 46 locations and building eight new bridges to ensure traffic is controlled in all seasons, and to avoid flooding on the National Road No. 4 which as occurred in the past.

The MPWT has requested all people traveling and living along National Road No. 4 to be tolerant of the disturbances caused by the construction of bridges and roads and to participate in the implementation of traffic safety measures organized by the Ministry and the transport and construction contractors until construction has been successfully completed.
